Inscribed and signed on the flyleaf, dated "51" [handwriting of difficult legibiity). Sivananda Saraswati (or Swami Sivananda) (8 September 1887-14 July 1963) was a Hindu spiritual teacher and a proponent of Yoga and Vedanta. Sivananda was born Kuppuswami in Pattamadai, in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. He studied medecine and served in British Malaya as a physician for several years before taking up monasticism, He lived most of his life near Muni Ki Reti, Rishikesh. (#kfk869)

One copy with second volume located on Worldcat [likely innaccurate, a fourth edition ends with the same text as this volume but there is no mention of volume 1 etc.], a few others volume 1 only, none in US. (#kfk871)

A series of Yoga Asanas presented specifically for women's general health. While the text is somewhat charmingly "dated", the suggested series of Yoga postures is as good today as it was in 1947. Light rubbing to corners and spine ends, "Printed in India" stamped on front endpaper, endpapers a little darkened, paper a bit browned. Otherwise tight, and unmarked VG copy in Good dust jacket. (Dust darkened, rubbed and chipped at edges).

"Divine Life Society" logo on upper board. Inscribed & signed on front blank by Swami Sivananda Saraswati "Sr. Dobings [?] May you ...... [?] with health, long life, peace, prosperity & eternal bliss. With regards from ... Sivananda"  A collection of writings, in English and Hindi, by female followers of Swami Sivananda Saraswati (1887—1963) the Hindu spiritual teacher and exponent of Yoga and Vedanta who founded The Divine Life Society. Title hand lettered on spine in dark pen. Boards rubbed, lower spine and corners bumped, endpapers unevenly darkened, page edges darkened, a very few pages have the underlines of the original owner, overall a Good signed copy.

Scarce in early edition.

The well-known Richard Wilhelm translation of this classic Chinese work on meditation.  It includes a commentary by Wilhelm's friend, the eminent German psychologist Carl Jung. Cloth faded at spine and edges of boards, bumps to spine ends, corners and upper front edge, all extremities a bit rubbed with some chafing to spine ends and corners, short closed tear to cloth lower gutter, page edges darkend, pages toned with some light scattered pencil lines and notes (about a dozen pages). Overall a solid and serviceable Good copy of the first American edition of this important translation.
